CASC campaign team attends the ISPAL National Sports Development Seminar - 19/20 June 2007
Representatives of the CASC Development Forum attended the ISPAL conference, held in Nottingham. The event enabled the CASC team to engage directly with sports development officers, many of whom had not heard previously about the scheme. However, the event was successful, with many attendees requesting copies of CASC leaflet for distribution to clubs and volunteers in their area.
cascinfo.co.uk attends LGA Cultural Services Conference - 21/22 March 2007
Following the recent Deloitte research which found a lack of awareness amongst local authorities (LAs) of the CASC scheme, representatives of the CASC Development Forum from CCPR attended the LGA Cultural Services Conference in Sheffield.
By encouraging sports clubs to register as CASCs LAs can save money. This is because the business rates relief received by CASCs has a greater contribution from central rather than local government.

CCPR Parliamentary Sporting Surgery - 14 March 2007
CCPR as a member of the CASC Development Forum continues to look at ways to improve and promote the CASC scheme.
Over 25 MPs recently attended CCPR’s first Parliamentary Sporting Surgery hosted by Andy Reed MP on 14 March 2007. The event enabled MPs from across the UK to share the concerns of their sporting constituents.
MPs had the opportunity to chat with Mark Ramprakash about the importance of grassroots sports clubs, learnt about cascinfo.co.uk and were offered help to promote the scheme to clubs in their area.
How you can help?
We would very much welcome your opinions on how this would be possible. Why not send us an email, or submit a post on our forum.
We are very keen to ensure that as many sports clubs as possible are aware of the CASC scheme as Deloitte have estimated that non-registered sports clubs are missing out on £60 million in benefits.
So how can you help?
- Contact your local MP and ask them to support EDM 1037 which supports the campaign for CASCs to receive further financial support
- Ask your local authority if they have any guidance on the CASC scheme. If not urge them to provide links to cascinfo.co.uk and further information on the CASC scheme
- Suggest to your local authority to include an article on CASCs in their newsletters or publications.
Contact feedback@cascinfo.co.uk for assistance with any of these including draft articles and letters.
